Thanks to Kim Chinquee and Frederick Barthelme for posting this short-short on their excellent site.
I’m extremely pleased to have a poem, “The Wind Apples”, in the latest issue of Sugar House Review, one of the best poetry magazines going.
A heartbreakingly unsentimental piece by Melinda Welsh, long-time editor of the Sacramento News & Review, on her illness and its brutal implications. Thank you to an impressive woman who shows the deep bravery of honesty.
The enormity of the news didn’t sink in fully, not at first, even after my doctor uttered the words: “I’m sorry, we did find cancer.” My husband, Dave, and I had only the faintest sense that evening that our lives had been hijacked forever.
My story “The Shallow End” is included in the latest issue of Cold Mountain Review.
Two new poems in the latest issue of Arroyo, the annual lit mag from CSU East Bay.
A great, relatively new magazine out of Santa Cruz, beautifully put together. I’ve spotted it at Barnes and Noble in Sacramento and Newsbeat in Davis. It can be found around Northern California, and maybe even outside (plus their website, of course). You can still get a copy of Issue 11, which includes (in addition to me) novelist Christian Kiefer and inauguration poet Richard Blanco.
A very cool cover and nice insides. Check out the latest issue of Cimarron Review (coincidentally including my poem “Full Disclosure”).
My poem “Radiolaria” is in the current issue of Natural Bridge. Thanks to everyone there for including me.
Thanks also to Dunes Review for nominating my poem “Anniversary” for a Pushcart Prize. I’m very grateful.
